Gymnastics Instructor Part-Time

Salary:     Based on experience

Sandy Springs Gymnastics Center is now hiring recreational and team coaches to join our growing program. We are looking for positive and committed coaches. Team Coach applicants must be familiar with the Level 2-6 USAG/AAU programs and possess strong spotting skills. Additionally, USA Gymnastics Professional membership, Safety Certification and CPR/First Aid will be required within 45 days of hire.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum age 16 required. Positions may require a High School diploma or G.E.D. and/or possession of specialized training, including but not limited to CPR and First Aid certification.
All positions require a clear criminal background check and negative drug screen.
Successful candidates must present required evidence of appropriate experience and background/references and be able to demonstrate required ability/skill.

Schedule and Compensation
Year round, part-time schedules are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week. These positions may require work on some holidays, nights and weekends. Part-time positions with the City of Sandy Springs are not eligible for any employment benefits.
Seasonal employees may be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week. Seasonal positions are temporary in nature and seasonal employment does not infer or imply any permanent status or employment relationship with the City of Sandy Springs. Seasonal workers are not eligible for any employment benefits. These positions may require work on some holidays, nights and weekends.
Our hourly rates are extremely competitive and based upon experience.


Part-time Police Officer (P.O.S.T. Certified)

Salary/Pay Rate:$25.25 per hour

The rate of pay for certified, part-time Police Officers is $25.25 per hour. (maximum of 56 hours per biweekly pay period and minimum of 12 hours per week) This position may require work on some holidays, nights and weekends. Applicants must be available to work Monday – Friday between 7 am and 6 pm or Friday – Sunday, dawn to dusk. Part-time positions with the City of Sandy Springs are not eligible for any employment benefits.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and prevention of crimes; duties include providing general courtroom security and coordinating the transfer of inmates from local holding facility to required court appearances; patrolling and monitoring parks, controlling traffic flow and enforcing State and local traffic regulations and participating in and conducting a variety of criminal investigations. This position provides a high level of customer service and integrates the community into policing activities; participates in community based police activities and programs; performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities. Performs other duties as required.

Essential Functions

Provides general courtroom security and coordinates the transfer of inmates from local holding facility to required court appearances; participates in court activities; responds to court subpoenas; assists in preparing case files and evidence for court presentation; testifies and presents evidence during court.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.) Basic Law Enforcement Certification
  • Minimum 2 years Law Enforcement / Patrol experience
  • Must possess a valid US Driver’s License, must possess a GA Driver’s License at time of employment.
  • Must successfully complete all steps in the hiring process including:
  • Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation.
  • Must successfully pass post-offer polygraph examination, psychological and medical evaluation and drug screen.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Writes clearly, accurately, concisely, and legibly using correct English, grammatical construction, and spelling, reads and interprets complex technical documents in English.
  • Express him/herself in a clear, distinct, and understandable manner when speaking to individuals, to people of different socio-economic level, before various public and community groups, and when testifying.
  • Exhibits good customer services skills.
  • Ability to interpret, applies, and makes decisions in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Must have substantive knowledge of and experience with community policing principles and practices and gang and drug oriented programs/strategies.

Recreation & Parks Dept. Part-Time & Seasonal Positions

Essential Functions

Part-time Position Descriptions
Athletic/ Recreation Program Aide
Must have a demonstrated interest in sports and leisure services and essential knowledge, skills and abilities to communicate effectively and teach and/or coach children, age 4-17, in an individual and/or group setting in support of the City’s athletic and recreational programs. Perform other related work as required and assist with other Department programs as needed. Minimum age of 18 required.
Parks Ambassador
Responsible for monitoring park activities to ensure that the general public complies with all park rules, serving as the onsite point of contact for the Recreation and Parks Department. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of City parks and parks facilities, for set-up and take-down of equipment, removing trash from parks and pavilions, cleaning and restocking restrooms, maintaining security of all park buildings and performing other general park and facility upkeep tasks, as needed. Must be able to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays, as needed. Must possess a valid, Georgia driver’s license and have an acceptable driving history. Minimum age of 21 required.

Youth and Adult Special Interest Instructor
Do you have a special certification or talent that you would like to share? The Recreation and Parks Department is always interested in reviewing proposals for carefully planned classes. Prospective instructors should complete the City application, plus a Program Proposal form . Previous teaching experience is desirable.
Minimum age of 21 required.

Seasonal Position Descriptions
Summer Camp Site Director
Considerable knowledge of summer camp planning and administration including previous work experience organizing and supervising summer day camp or other recreational programs is a must. Essential knowledge and skills in teaching recreational and athletic skills to children ages 6-12. Ability to plan and organize daily activity schedules to maintain a high level of interest among participants. Customer service and exceptional communication skills are essential to communicate well with parents, children, and recreation staff and assist in promoting the camp program to ensure maximum participation. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are a must with an ability to effectively direct summer staff to adhere to program schedules in a structured environment. Promptly complete any required reports. Maybe required to operate a 12 passenger van to transport participants on field trip days. Possess playground and water safety knowledge. Minimum age of 21 and CPR and First aid certification required.

Summer Camp Counselor
Familiarity with conducting or participating in leisure activities, arts and crafts, games and sports and the ability to teach and supervise youth ages 6-12 in athletic games and recreational activities is a must. Prepare recreational facilities for participant use, and monitor activities to ensure that they are safe and appropriate. Knowledge and skills to ensure a wholesome environment is maintained in and around camp setting. Promptly complete any required reports. Maybe required to operate a 12 passenger van and transport participants to and from field trips. Playground and water safety knowledge and current CPR and First aid certification is a plus. Perform other duties as required. Minimum age of 16 required.

Minimum Qualifications
All positions may require a High School diploma or G.E.D. and some positions, when applicable, require applicants to meet a minimum age requirement, possess a valid driving license (with the proper endorsement) and/or possess specialized training, including but not limited to a current CPR and First Aid certification by time of employment.

All positions require a clear criminal background check, negative drug screen, and a clean driving record (for positions that require driving).
