Accounting Manager

Location: Headquarters- Atlanta (Fulton County)
Salary Range: $46,310.72- $81,043.76

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD).

DPS is seeking qualified applicants to fill the Accounting Manager position to oversee the revenue and grant units of DPS and its administratively attached agencies. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Analyzes financial statistics and other accounting data.
Develops and directs a comprehensive accounting program which integrates Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards, Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS), statutory accounting requirements, and departmental fiscal policies and procedures.
Directs operational analyses of accounting systems, subsystems and/or procedures.
Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges accounting/financial employees.
Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for accounting/financial employees.
Provides professional guidance and assistance in the solution of complex accounting and financial problems.
Represents the financial interests of the State in accounting-related interactions/negotiations with other parties, such as banks, vendors and external auditors.


Budget Officer

The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted by the people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population.

The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Budget Officer within the Division of Finance.

Job Responsibilities:
Supervises and directs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Oversees, develops, prepares, analyzes and/or revises large or complex budgets and supporting schedules for assigned organizations or program areas. Performs review and analysis of budget program and policy issues, analyzes financial trends or proposed legislation and recommends appropriate courses of action to management.
Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas.
Assist with development and preparation of the annual operating budget and subsequent amendments.
Monitor budget, expenditures and revenues to ensure budgetary compliance.
Ensure timely review and processing of all financial transactions to maintain expenditure controls.
Serve as an adviser to program staff regarding the appropriate utilization of funds.
Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Analyzes agency budgeting and accounting reports/requests to maintain expenditure controls.
Analyzes policy and budget-related initiatives and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Assesses financial data to determine the resources required to implement a program.
Examines budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and regulations.
May produce comprehensive analytical reports.

Salary Range:  $36,268.09 – $52,409.39 Annually
