Job Description
Under general supervision plans, directs, and implements activities for the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) project for the Georgia Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program and all joint-Use agreements. Responsible for collaborating with the Georgia SRTS program, DeKalb County School District staff, Georgia Department of Public Health, parents, and community members to help create safe active transportation environments at and around area schools. Promotes pedestrian safety in coordination with local schools. Participates in local school wellness programs and conducts walkability assessments to evaluate neighborhood safety. Monitors student travel behaviors provides training and technical assistance to schools, students and parents/families and develops monthly and annual program reports to share with stakeholders. Develops and works to implement a comprehensive SRTS program around the school-based action plans. Works with faith-based organizations to establish joint-use agreements to increase physical activity to the target population. Other duties as assigned. (This is a grant funded position.)
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Health Education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social, Behavioral or Biological Sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in public health education.
Additional Information
In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants with experience in Public Health program management, policy, and systems. Experience in developing environmental change strategies to improve the health status of the community, SPSS data analysis and reporting is also preferred.
